Broadcasting Live on Twitter - presentation

http://twitcam.com/17i2e

-

Here is a Live Twitter Broadcast - I recorded earlier a broadcast (that was live at the time) - I then edited this with my comments as voice over.

I joined TwitCam - Then broadcast a live session - So It was available for access on Twitter - seen by my followers.

The broadcast was recorded by TwitCam automatically - I then embeded this into my blog.

Mnnn- are you still with me? of what happened.

OK - Well whats the benefit:

  1. Share a broadcast and can tweet out its existance over the period of 33 mins.
  2. The 33 mins is the engage time (rather than the shelf life of a single comment).
  3. Long term high quality content held
  4. Video as Twitter content

etc etc etc....

I always wanted to be number 1 in google

Page Rank, optimization, SEO, Keywords.....All these buzzy words that all the high earners and gurus of the web business - they spend their life learning how to make a phrase or even just a word earn a fortune in generating the web traffic.

I made number 1 with a tweet that took me 30 seconds to produce and post - It took me 10 - 15 seconds later to get top spot at google.

OK - watch the video to see exactly how - But its all down to the new search options on Google, namely viewing the "latest" search view (means just what it say i.e latest posting using that word or phrase - usually from a social network like Twitter) .

I HATE CHRIS BROGAN

Hope

I just came back from a presentation - Listening to Chris Brogan - in Doncaster @ The Hub.

I listened to him speak for around an hour...and as I travelled back on the train I started to think about his presentation. And I thought.

...............What did Chris Brogan ever do for me?

Did he clothe my children..?

Did he find me a job..?

Did he tell me on a cold night that he loved me..?

No...and likely none of these things will ever happen!

He talks about social communications.

All his words - All his writing...Just talking about the art of communicating?

I knew then - I HATE CHRIS BROGAN

I had a problem - which was this:

The stuff Chris Brogan gives - He gives without return.
He see the world as a place where he has an opportunity to help others.
He knows that progress is sourced from a pure heart - not from high performance strategy.

He talks quietly about the human condition and rather than providing techniques he told his audience why we all need to care!
To look deeper into truth...about what makes us human...about what it is to talk to our fellow man...how we become better people...more alive....greater human beings when we are...more socially connected.

Don't listen - Don't fall into his trap - How to make a difference.

It's not natural - Nobody should feel so much this way.

I HATE CHRIS BROGAN!

I knew it was a mistake!

Dont-laugh-if-i-dance

After meeting friends in the a local pub - I was on my way home - But then I met another friend I had not seen for a long time - We went into a music pub......Nooooo - you know already this was a mistake!

After a few (really) beers I got up to dance with a group - I thought were girls - But were in actual fact a transsexual group (on a night out) from Bradford.

Wow - Amazing - So you might be thinking (as a reader) - You however needed to be there to see this situation as very differently.

Anyway after an uncomfortable 20 minutes - ended up having a drink at the bar with 7 / 8 men in dreses - know what - They were all really nice people!

So after a further hour or so - we made our excusses to go - I thought this was the very best end to what might have been an embarrassing story - However  - As I was leaving I shouted "great meeting you all and great dancing with you"......Just as I turned the corner one of the men/girls shouted back - "Nice for us also - But pity about your dancing".

Grrrrrrrrr.....

He has got to be from Mars!

Is Linked In just a  social media site that is for recruiters and candidates engaged in job hunting activities ? - Rather than networking for the business that they are already in? - I am sure that there are success stories out there, but I fear they are far and few between.

I spoke with a recruitment agency this morning - I guy I know pretty well - While we were chatting he asked me if I knew someone who could fill a certain job role they were searching - What! - I said - That's my background - so are you asking me in a roundabout way if I'm interested? - Ohhh he responded - I actually thought of you, but then I checked your Linked In profile..........The sad thing is that I've know the recruiter for 10 years.

It got me wondering if there is any real social networking activities happening on Linked In - or is it all direct marketing - i.e After you find out the name you are looking for - Do people just send an email or make a telephone call as the next stage - to make the contact?

My recruitment friend uses Linked In as his go-to Rolodex - And the people listed are the content - Nothing strange in that - I guess we all do - But recruiters go straight for the cold call.

What about the rest of us  - Is there anyone maturing social relationships first -on Linked In - Then developing the reason to talk about business?

If this company was a person - who would they be?

Someday-i-will-do-that

Trying economic times requires courage and resilience - Unfortunately the opposite reaction occurs from many organisations as they try to weather out the downturn.

A friend of mine works for a small publishing company in Leeds. She told me of a conversation that she had with the MD the other day.

This publisher has ambitions to become a mid size provider of Internet related content to a certain niche audience market, but currently only deliver print mags to this market.

My friend has come up with the ingenious plan (her word not mine) of creating a social marketing campaign around key individuals in the Industry - Including videos, webinars and other related articles supported with business development in the usual places twitter, facebook etc.

This would have meant - something well drastic for the company.....leaving the office and getting involved with their content (rather than just creating it within the safety of the office).

The response from the MD:

"Its too risky as we might end up being the news - rather than reporting the news"

.............Yup.....that is true enough!...........But ....THATS THE POINT!

In todays social marketing ethos - all (most) exposure is just an opportunity in the making!

Is the Best Answer - sometimes just what you feel?

Doodling-for-fun-single1

I just came back from a regular walk over the hills where I live - I love the feeling being on the top of the world looking down into the valley where Sheffield and Barnsley begins.

Anyway.....I was doing my normal trick of getting lost, because that's the beautiful way of finding out new things. It started to rain and I darted for a restaurant that wasn't open yet, but just a few hundred yards away down the track I was walking - I managed to get to the door just before the downpour.

I bobbed my head around the door where I saw two people - one a man who was stony faced and smoking a cigarette impassively and the other a woman - red race with anger pointing and raising her voice.

I asked the gent (who now I realise was in the middle of an argument - I presume with his wife) "is it OK for me to shelter inside for a while?"

The answer?....Well you already guessed it...The words above - Inspired me to doodle!

My real Example - how to get influencial comments on your blog

Fun-with-waste-bins-how-to-get

  1. I wanted to get a response from the founder of Hubspot Brian Halligan (There is no publicly published email for Brian).
  2. I scribbled a cartoon on the back of a business card and scanned this into blog question below (http://tinyurl.com/ykthxny - "Open blog for Brian Halligan, CEO Hub Spot" - 24th March 2010).
  3. This blog when posted - also posted to twitter with added @bhalligan (so this would show up on Brains Twitter page).
  4. Brian sees the question on Twitter - follows the link and then responds with his answer in the comments section of my Blog
